  • Monday - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Wednesday - 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Closed Tuesday and Thursday

The Rural Municipality of Springfield contracts the services of BFI Canada to manage its waste and recycling programs at the transfer stations (Landfills).

If you have any questions, or need information on how you can reduce, reuse and recycle, contact one of the attendants on duty or, alternatively, the Public Works Department at 444-2241 between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday or between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm on Friday.
 
Emterra of Winnipeg is the recycling contractor for all communities. Oakbank has both waste and recycling scheduled for Thursday pickup on the West Side of Main Street (206), and Friday pickup on the East Side of Main Street (206). Dugald, Vivian, Glass, Anola, Cooks Creek and Hazelridge will have both waste and recycling scheduled for Tuesday pickup.

Please have your waste and recycling at the curbside by 7:00 am on the day of pick up. Proper recycling procedures apply to both depot and curbside.

Items that can be recycled and the proper procedure for recycling these products is as follows:
  • Newspapers
  • Boxboard Aseptic (juice) boxes
  • Glass containers
  • Telephone Books
  • Magazines
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Steel Cans
  • Gable Top Cartons
  • Aluminums Cans
  • PET #1 Plastic
  • HDPE #2 Colored Plastic
  • HDPE #2 Natural Plastic (Milk Jugs, etc.)
  • #4 Plastic
  • #5 Plastic

Some items that are not recyclable at this time are:
  • window glass
  • facial tissue
  • light bulbs
  • paper towels
  • china & ceramics
  • aerosol cans
  • mirrors
  • aluminum foil
  • pie plates
  • styrofoam packaging
  • hangers
  • cellophane
  • milk bags

All recyclable materials can be placed co-mingled in the bin provided at the transfer station. When in doubt please check the number on the plastic material to see if it is recyclable. If there is no number it is not a recyclable material.

Plastic material is still not accepted at this time.

At curbside all material listed above can be placed loosely in your blue box. Please place newspapers in a plastic clear bag, or shopping bag left open in your blue box or beside your blue box. Cardboard should be folded 3x5 square, tied and placed beside your blue box.

Electronic Waste (E-Waste) - The Municipality of Springfield collects E-waste at both waste transfer stations. Currently, the Municipality has partnered with Responsible Electronic Recycling for waste disposal.
