In June 2015, Bridgman Collaborative Architecture was hired by the R.M. of Springfield to consult constituents, review existing recreation buildings and fields, study existing reports, examine successful recreation funding precedents and provide a regional recreation plan for the municipality for the next twenty years.
Six community conversations were held between July and October 2015. Over 200 people participated. Two surveys were also conducted. The public recreation survey had over 600 responses. The survey of coaches, conveners and instructors was sent to active stakeholders and over 20 people participated.
The Draft Recreation Master Plan was posted on the website on April 15th, 2016 for public review. An open house was held April 20th, 2016 at the Springfield Municipal Office to provide an opportunity for community feedback on the plan. Approximately 80 people attended the open house with 25 people filling out comment cards. People were also encouraged to attach notes and recommendations to enlarged plan pages. 8 people put their names forward to participate as new recreation volunteers!
On June 7, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., Bridgman Collaborative Architecture will present the final master recreation plan to council during a regular council meeting.
