Public Notice: Level 2 Fire Restrictions

PUBLIC NOTICE:

Level 2 Fire Restrictions as per Province of Manitoba Fire Bulletin

Please be advised that the Province of Manitoba has outlined in their updated fire bulletin that level 2 restrictions have been implemented effective immediately.

These restrictions prohibit motorized backcountry travel, including ATVs and other off-road vehicles, unless under the authority of a travel permit; camping is restricted to developed campgrounds; campfires are permitted only between the hours of 8PM and 8AM; wayside parks remain open; landing and launching is restricted to developed shorelines only; and industry and outfitters should contact local Manitoba Conservation and Climate offices for more info.

Although the RM of Springfield is not currently imposing a fire ban, we highly encourage you to only have fires in approved receptacles at this time and proceed with caution.

Acceptable outdoor fire pits should be enclosed on all sides and constructed of masonry, concrete, heavy gauge metal or other noncombustible materials.  Outdoor fire pits should be located on a flat, level and noncombustible base, and clear of overhangs such as roofs, tree branches or utility wires with a required distance of at least 10 feet or 3 meters from a structure.  You should not light a fire under severe wind conditions and you should always limit the size of your fire to something that is manageable.

If you have any questions, please contact the Municipal Office at (204) 444-3321.
